Award-winning business journalism: Redesign of the web portal

CI compliant, with Optimal User Experience

The German business magazine CAPITAL – by Gruner + Jahr – has been published in print for almost 60 years and is also highly regarded in digital form.

We were commissioned to redesign the CAPITAL website and give it a contemporary look and feel. The aim was to preserve the established brand identity and ensure optimal accessibility and readability of the content.

Marketer- and reader-friendly

The magazine’s website offers business enthusiasts a wide range of articles, commentaries and analyses on politics and the global economy. Interactive analysis tools in particular are among the most visited pages.

We were faced with the challenge of building on the existing CMS, guaranteeing the functionality of these tools and meeting the requirements of users and advertisers alike after the relaunch.

We succeeded in meeting all needs by designing an ideal layout for ads that impairs the user experience as little as possible.

Well-known CItransferred to a Digital Brand

Transferring the established layout from print to web was achieved by carefully adapting the typeface. Because the well-known CAPITAL serif font was not suitable for digital display, we replaced it with sans serif fonts in different sizes: A copy in different Font Sizes takes into account the different breakpoints on all devices from smartphones to desktops.

Newsletter with Expertise

In addition to relaunching the website, we also redesigned the newsletter. Every Friday, subscribers receive a review of the most important topics of the previous week. Not just because of the editorial from the editor-in-chief this marketing tool has proven to be extremely successful.
